Co Worker Update: The End is Nigh

Don’t worry.  I’m not going to tell you she is dying or anything (well, not obviously anyway).  

But I did tell you she was a temp.  So, this is her last week.

The main reason she’s leaving?  I found out she’s been taking advantage of the laid back atmosphere, and making her own hours by coming in late so she can stay late and order free dinner.  According to her boss, she hasn’t had enough work to do to warrant working late.

 

I do have one last dinner story to tell you though.

This happened last week, and I didn’t find out about it until a few days later.

The receptionist that orders each nights dinner has been getting really fed up with our favorite co-worker not sticking to her diabetic diet.  The receptionist is more bold than I, and has actually made not so subtle hints to her that she needs to cut out the horrible eating.

So, our co-worker orders a beef taco platter, and a fudge brownie dessert with ice cream.

The receptionist tells me days later that she purposely forgot to order the dessert that night.  She says she couldn’t bare to help her kill herself if she could do something about it.  She was also hoping that maybe co-worker would realize that after eating the taco dinner, that she didn’t really need a dessert to feel satisfied.

The night after that, our co-worker orders the exact same thing, noting that they forgot her dessert the night before.  The receptionist figured she couldn’t do it twice in a row…

 

It’s strange.  I actually had thought for a bit that she may be changing her ways.  We had a little Halloween happy hour at work about a month ago, with plenty of junk to eat, and normally she would have complained about having all of the temptation, but would still pile on her plate with no shame…  but she ate nothing.  I was very impressed, and saw a glimmer of hope.  

But alas, it was not to be.
